## How to Show a Kid How to Measure Angles

• Post category:Life Style / News

There is nothing better than a good case to show something. This method will also make it much easier for you to teach your kids math basics. We really liked this method at 5-Minute Crafts and hope it will help your child become interested in math.

#### First, you should tell them what a “degree” and an “angle” are.

• A degree is a common way to measure the angle between two planes. The sign shows it °.
• An angle is a physical shape made up of two lines (sides of the angle) that meet at a point called the vertex.

Example 1: 90 degrees. It is the same as 90°. In a right angle, the sides are parallel to each other.

Example 2: (a) an acute angle, (b) an oblique angle, and () a straight angle. Angles that are not equal to 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° are called acute and obtuse angles.

Example 3: Reflex angle. It is not 180° or 360°.

#### How to figure out an angle’s size without a protractor

• On a piece of paper, draw an angle.
• As the picture above shows, ask your child to put their hand before them.
• Tell them they need to spread their fingers as far apart as possible. The thumb should be straight across from the little finger at the bottom of the curve. The angle between the thumb and index finger is 0°, and the angles between the other fingers are 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°.
• Ask the child to place their hand on the angle and count the degrees.

Remember that this method is not 100% exact; it just gives you a rough idea of how many degrees an angle is.
