A JAPANESE ARTIST GIVES STONES LIFE BY MAKING THEM LOOK LIKE SMALL ANIMALS

“I want to paint the life, the living spirit of the being I feel is inside them.” This is the motto of the Japanese artist Akie Nakata, whose life’s work turns simple stones into works of art that look so real that people might mistake them for real things at first glance. “To me, stones are not just raw materials or blank canvases.
One of the many at the edge of a lake catches my eye. Because it looks at me like an animal. Images of Nakata’s work have been seen worldwide because she is so skilled and knows how to get exactly what she wants. “Every time I find a stone, I feel like it has also found me.” Instagram | Facebook – More info
