A TikTok video has gone viral because it shows a man’s creative and maybe even controversial way to save money while food shopping. The video that his partner took shows how he worked in a way that didn’t follow the “work smarter, not harder” philosophy.
It took place in Australia.
Mason’s girlfriend, Mai, recently posted a video on social media of Mason opening bananas before weighing them at the self-service checkout to get a better price.
Mai wrote in the caption, “The secondhand embarrassment though,” which shows that she doesn’t quite agree with the way her partner does things.
People had different thoughts about how Mason saved money in the comments. Someone in the audience agreed with him and said, “Real cheap people weigh them without a bag,” but someone else said the money he saved wasn’t worth the trouble. “And all for 25 cents,” they said.
We can only guess what would happen to those fruits on the way home from the store. Even though the skin isn’t very strong, it does somehow protect each banana. So, it’s not clear if the risks of this trick are worth it.
