At the airport, he was discovered alone, with a note from his owner explaining that she had to leave him behind.

Chewy is a three-month-old Chihuahua spotted by a Las Vegas airport security agent. He was left behind in an airport restroom.

Chewy’s owner apparently fled a violent situation. Sadly, his owner couldn’t take him on her flight, so she left him with a note, hoping someone would discover him.

“Hello! Chewy! We had to cancel the flight since my owner was abusive. She hated leaving me, but she had no choice. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog during a quarrel, leaving him with a massive knot. He’ll need a vet. I adore Chewy. Love and care for him. “

Chewy had a brain injury and needed rapid care. The airport employees contacted Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue, a local foster-based non-profit.

Chewy was rescued and sent to an emergency vet clinic. Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue (CMDR) accepts and cares for senior and special-needs canines.

Chewy made a full recovery, and his story touched so many hearts that the shelter quickly found him a forever home.

To this day, Gilliam worries about how many other owners and their pets are trapped in toxic marriages. She now tells Chewy’s tale to show abuse victims that CMDR is a safe sanctuary.
