Harrison Tinsley’s journey to gaining full custody of his son, Sawyer, is a story of a father’s relentless fight against what he believed was an unjust situation. After a long and emotionally charged legal battle, Harrison, a California native, now holds custody of his 4-year-old son—a victory he describes as nothing short of a “miracle.”

 

The struggle began when Harrison’s ex-girlfriend, who identifies as a non-binary lesbian, allegedly attempted to raise Sawyer as non-binary, despite the child’s clear insistence that he was a boy. According to Harrison, his son would become visibly upset when others tried to suggest otherwise. “I know he’s a boy. He wants to be a boy. He says that very clearly,” Harrison shared, adding that Sawyer’s frustrations were evident when anyone questioned his identity.

Harrison recounted troubling instances where his ex-girlfriend imposed her gender beliefs on Sawyer, from making him wear dresses and glitter to using they/them pronouns against his will. These actions, according to Harrison, were part of a broader campaign of manipulation that began when Sawyer was just a baby. The situation escalated when Sawyer’s mother allegedly forced him to wear princess shoes before allowing him to enjoy rides at Disneyland, an experience that left Harrison deeply concerned for his son’s well-being.

 

The turning point came when Sawyer’s mother was arrested for felony child endangerment. Seizing the opportunity, Harrison approached the San Francisco Superior Court, armed with extensive evidence, including hours of police bodycam footage and hundreds of pages of documents. Despite the overwhelming proof, the court initially sided with Sawyer’s mother. However, after a thorough investigation by Child Protective Services (CPS), which included recommendations for regular drug and alcohol testing for the mother, the tide turned in Harrison’s favor.

 

Throughout the ordeal, Harrison maintained that he was not a political figure or an extremist, just a father from California trying to protect his son. He expressed gratitude to the investigators who, despite likely differing political views, prioritized Sawyer’s best interests.

Now, with Sawyer back in his care, Harrison describes his son as his “best friend” and the “greatest blessing” in his life. Free from the pressures of enforced gender identity, Sawyer can simply be a child again—enjoying his days without the weight of adult ideologies. “Kids just want to have fun and spend time with their parents. They don’t care about sex, identity, or any of these other fake, weird ideas,” Harrison reflected.

As for the future, Harrison is focused on providing a loving and stable environment for Sawyer, allowing him to grow up as the person he truly is. Despite the challenges, Harrison’s love for his son remains unwavering, and he is committed to ensuring Sawyer’s happiness and well-being.
