Donny Osmond’s work has been very long and successful. From the beginning with The Osmonds, which made him a worldwide star, to working with his sister Marie and then as a solo singer, it seemed like nothing could stop him. Though, as rumours about a fight with his sister Marie spread on the internet, Donny would have bigger problems to deal with.

The singer had surgery on his back and neck. While he was healing, he got an infection and had to relearn how to walk.

Now, Osmond is standing again. But he seems to have no plans to stop, even though he has had health problems in recent years and had to cancel some shows in Las Vegas because of them. At least not for now, because he seems to have a “mind-blowing” plan for the future. It’s too bad he won’t see his brother again.

Becoming famous is one of the biggest dreams of many kids as they grow up, and it’s possible that many of them still have that dream as adults. It comes with being famous, being rich, going to fancy events, travelling, being able to buy a big house, and being recognised everywhere, but it also has a downside.

Many famous people have said that one of the few things they want is to be able to walk down the street or go to the store and buy a gallon of milk without being recognised. Also, the pressure to always perform at your best can be awful for many people, especially artists, and in the end could lead to terrible things.

Some famous people might wish they had their “old life” back, but Donny Osmond is not one of them.

The artist became famous when he was young and has been in the spotlight his whole life. Even though he has been through some tough times, Osmond has been able to overcome all of them and come out on top. He now has a beautiful wife, five children, and 14(!) grandkids. But the little ones don’t really know what their grandpa is doing.

Today, Donny Osmond is 65 years old, and in the last few years, there has been a lot of talk about whether or not he will ever be able to sing again. This is because he has had a lot of surgeries. Now, the famous performer gives a new update on his future, which may disappoint some fans.

Before he turned six, Donny Osmond was already making a living as a performer. Born on December 9, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, he and his older brothers quickly became known as the Osmond Brothers. They became regular act on The Andy Williams Show, so the family chose to move to Los Angeles to give the kids the best chance of becoming stars.

“We were all very excited at the time. When I was just about to turn six, I joined the Osmonds. Marie and Jimmy came after me and were also put on the list of people who could sing. Donny told The Guardian, “I think my parents did a great job raising such a big family in what quickly became a very successful show business family.”

“I grew up very quickly and very young. Normal for us was working hard on new routines and appearing on TV shows, tours, and other shows, all while doing schoolwork with the help of a home tutor,” he said. “At home, when I didn’t want to be seen, I would go to my room to read and build things with electronics. I was always interested and wanted to know how things worked.

While Donny and his brothers were touring the country with their shows, their younger sister, Marie, was becoming a star in her own right.

Her first song, Paper Roses came out in 1973, when she was only 14 years old. It was a huge hit.

The song made her the most popular person in the world. She had the top country song in the US and was in the top five on the pop chart in Billboard magazine. Marie was still in her teens when she became a star in Europe. Her song “Paper Roses” reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

By 1976, The Osmonds weren’t making hit singles anymore, but they had already put out 16 records.

Their popularity grew when Marie started singing duets with Donny, and the young brother-sister duo became world stars.

When the brothers and sisters started to act together, Donny, who was a teen idol, was on almost every newspaper cover. That in itself put a lot of pressure on Donny, who had to deal with a lot of stress.

With the success of the variety show Donny & Marie in 1976, the two Osmonds moved from music to TV. At that time, Marie noticed that her brother was not acting right. She thought she was having signs of stress. But it was actually a sign of very bad mental health.

Later, Donny would say that during his success, he had problems with his mental health. That might not be so strange when you think about how famous he and his sister were.

He once said that he was rushed to the hospital after a show because he was in so much pain from stomach problems. Once he got there, he had surgery but was back on track in no time.

Donny Osmond as “Grandpa”

Even though he has had some recent setbacks, Donny Osmond is still going strong after more than 50 years.

Even though his father told him it could hurt his job, he began dating Debbie when he was only 19. They are still together to this day. They have five kids and fourteen grandkids. Donny told People Magazine about how they felt when they saw him perform in Las Vegas in 2021.

We can say for sure that it was very special.

“Right before the show began, I was fighting and playing with them on the ground. But what happens after the show is really interesting. They treat you a little bit differently,” Osmond said. “The young ones, in particular, were like, ‘Wait a minute, is that grandpa out there?’ Then, when I come back, they can’t quite figure out that “Grandpa was the one on stage, and now he’s wrestling with me.” It was interesting in a way.”

The star also said that when they all get together for big family events, he usually tries to “take a back seat.” For example, he was very upset when he watched season 2 of “Claim to Fame,” in which his son, Chris Osmond, was a contestant.

“I try to stay in the background and just be grandpa. I don’t want to be a star or the head of the house with my wife. It’s just like grandpa is over there with the grandchildren playing. He told People, “That’s what I like to do.”

In 2008, Donny and Marie said they would perform together at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Over the course of 11 years, there were 1,730(!) performances of the show. In 2019, Donny and Marie agreed that it was time to separate. Newspapers were full of stories about a family fight, but that was put to rest when the two got back together on stage last year.

Donny Osmond was afraid he would never walk again.

Some people said that the rumoured family fight was the reason why the two didn’t act together for three years, but there was another big and bad reason.

When Donny and Marie left the Las Vegas stage for the last time during their stay in 2019, the now-65-year-old knew something was wrong.

“I couldn’t feel my arms, and all of a sudden I couldn’t feel my legs either,” he told the Mirror. “I didn’t tell anyone about what was going on with me…I kept dancing until the show was over.”

Osmond went to see his doctor, and it found out that he already had a problem. His spine had shifted partly because of injuries he got when he won Strictly Come Dancing in 2009. He had surgery on his back and neck. At the time, everything seemed fine. But what happened next would be a surprise.

Donny Osmond had no idea that it would take months for him to go to rehab and get better. He went back to his home in Utah, where he took a long time to learn how to walk again.

“I thought everything was going to be fine, but it couldn’t have been worse,” Donny said. “I got a second infection, which stopped me from moving.”

It took Donny a few months to get better, and he had to use a walking frame to get around. He worried more and more that he’d never be able to walk again.

“I thought about it for sure. But I didn’t take no for an answer,” he told the Mirror.

The next day, Donny and his brothers were big stars. Though, in the last few years, they haven’t been getting along as well as they used to. In 2018, Jimmy, the younger brother, said that his famous family had grown apart and that they rarely saw each other.

Donny Osmond says he won’t get back together with his brothers.

Donny Osmond joined his brother Merrill and other family members a few months ago to celebrate Merrill and his wife’s church mission. Other than that, things have been pretty quiet with the Osmond boys.

Even though people want to see them on stage together again, it’s likely that won’t change. Osmond talked to the Express about a possible return tour with his brothers, and he said that it won’t happen.

“Where are my brothers?” He said, “I don’t think so, because everyone is pretty much retired.”

Even though he and Marie did a short show together on stage last year, Donny said he didn’t see them doing another show together.

On the Just Trish podcast, he said, “We won’t make something like we did at the Flamingo because we’re both going in different directions with our careers.”

“She likes to do her own thing, and I like to do mine. But in this game, you can never say never. There could be something temporary, but it wouldn’t last forever like it did in the past. I don’t think that will happen.”

It’s safe to say that Donny Osmond doesn’t need to keep acting to make money. He is said to have a net worth of about $18 million, but he will always love music.

Donny Osmond stops shows and talks about his “mind-blowing” future plans.

Donny said on the Just Trish show that his plans for the future are “mind-blowing” and that he doesn’t know what it means to retire.

Going forward, “Artificial Intelligence” will be his key phrase, because “amazing things are happening” for him.

Donny Osmond said, “What I can do with that technology will blow your mind, because it blows mine.” He added that he hopes to keep going “forever.”

Back on stage is Donny Osmond. But he now shares the sad news that illness has forced him to cancel two of the long-awaited shows in his new Las Vegas engagement.

The 65-year-old said in a statement on September 27: “I am so sorry to tell you that I will have to cancel my shows tonight and tomorrow at Harrah’s Las Vegas because I am sick.”

“The health and safety of everyone on stage and in the audience is the most important thing,” he said.

Osmond hasn’t said what type of illness he has. But he chose to “apologise” for any trouble and told his fans that he “appreciated” their patience.
