Many people noticed Morgan Freeman’s left arm when he walked Margot Robbie on stage at the 2023 Oscars. In fact, the 85-year-old star wore a long, black satin glove up to his elbow, which caused a lot of people to worry. The reason is a sad event that happened 15 years ago and changed Freeman’s life.
In 2008, the star of “The Shawshank Redemption” was in a bad car accident that left his left hand disabled.
After the accident, Freeman had a 4-hour surgery to fix his broken shoulder, arm, and elbow on his left side.
A few years after the bad thing happened, the famous star talked about how hard it was for him. He said, “I got nerve damage, and it hasn’t gotten better, I can’t move it.”
He also said, “Your hand will get bigger if you don’t move it. You move your hand about a million times a day, did you know that?
Even though doctors told him his hand would get better by 2011, this didn’t happen.
Freeman’s nerve damage won’t disappear, so he still can’t move his fingers.
Even 15 years later, the accident still affects the Oscar-winning actor, since he was wearing a glove at the event.
Experts say that the compression glove helps blood flow by gently squeezing the veins in the hand. It can also help with tingling, pain, and swelling.
