Gen Z Influencer Larz Explains Why He Won’t Talk to His Family: “They Don’t Have Followers”

Larz, a well-known Gen Z social media star, has sparked controversy after explaining why he refuses to communicate with his family—they “don’t have followers.”

During an appearance on Dr. Phil, Larz bluntly stated, “I mean I don’t talk to my family, they’re not important.” This comment, along with his earlier viral antics—most notably a video where he licked a toilet—has fueled widespread criticism online.

Larz, who boasts over 300,000 Instagram followers, saw his controversial remarks resurface on platform X, where a clip from his Dr. Phil interview quickly went viral, amassing over 8.7 million views within 24 hours after being shared by @PicturesFoIder.

His statements left many bewildered, with one user questioning, “If he’s so famous, why don’t I know who he is?” Others expressed their dismay at his behavior, with one commenter remarking, “the real pandemic is narcissism,” while another quipped, “we had a good run as a species.”

What truly shocked viewers, however, was Larz’s dismissive attitude toward his family. He elaborated on his stance by saying, “Everyone’s mad about it. Maybe you guys don’t get it because you’re not important either.”

Dr. Phil, quick to defend those under fire, responded, “You know what I found? Being a star makes you less proud.”

Larz’s disdain for his family isn’t a new development. In a 2022 interview on Australia’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, he confirmed that he had long since cut ties with them, stating, “Of course not. It’s embarrassing that people still think I talk to them because I stopped talking to them a long time ago.”

When pressed about who he communicates with now, Larz revealed, “I direct message Cardi B on Instagram. We’ve been able to talk easily since we met on Twitter in 2015.” He made it clear that he only associates with people who are as famous as he is, saying, “I’m just more famous than everyone and I won’t talk to people who aren’t unless they get the same amount of followers as me.”

Larz went on to reveal that he has blocked all five of his brothers and four sisters on Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat. He insisted that he wouldn’t engage with them until they reached his level of fame.

When asked once more on Dr. Phil why he refuses to speak to his family, Larz reiterated, “They don’t matter, and none of them have followers. I would likely talk to them again if they got famous or rich.”

In a moment of disbelief, Dr. Phil questioned, “You’re talking about your mother?” To which Larz responded, “Well, I guess my mom has more followers than my sister.”

Despite his online fame, Larz’s presence on social media has waned. His last Instagram post dates back to 2018, and his TikTok account has since been deleted.
