The little boy whose picture went popular while he was fighting cancer is now healthy again and can go back to school.

Cancer is a sad fact of life that many of us may have to deal with ourselves or through the lives of loved ones. Even if we don’t have this terrible illness ourselves, we’ll probably know someone who does.

The picture that might come to mind is the touching one that Beckett’s mother, Kaitlin Burge, posted on social media in 2019. It showed Beckett, who was two years old at the time and going through chemotherapy, being comforted by his bigger sister. Beckett started his fight against cancer right away after being told he had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on April 25, 2018.

His sister Aubrey, who was only four years old at the time, saw her younger brother fight to get stronger. This fight kept him from playing and sent him to the hospital for a long time. Bright Side stated that Aubrey could not visit Beckett while he was in the hospital for 35 days. This was too much for her young mind to handle.

By some miracle, Beckett’s treatment worked, and he has now been deemed cancer-free. Kaitlin Burge thought about how her son’s strength and smile helped him get through his experience and how Aubrey, his sister and best friend, dealt with her own problems while watching her brother struggle.

Having fought cancer for two years, Beckett finally beat it and is now doing great in first grade. Together, his journey and his sister’s unwavering support have formed a friendship that was born out of hardship.

Beckett’s story is a powerful warning of how short-lived hard times are. It drives home the point that both good and bad times are temporary, and that better times are usually just around the corner.

We are so happy for Beckett, who is now six years old and healthy, and his amazing journey to get better from cancer. It’s a stark warning of how important it is to keep fighting this horrible disease so that one day there is no more cancer.
