Luke Bryan, a well-known country singer and judge on American Idol, was very sad when his sister died more than ten years ago. Luke had to stay strong after she died so that his nephew and two cousins could live in a safe place. This made her death hurt twice as much. Luke Bryan had to deal with a terrible accident in 1996. Chris, his brother, died when he was in a car crash. At the time, the famous singer-to-be didn’t know that this wasn’t his only brother who would die too soon.
A little more than ten years later, in 2007, Kelly, Bryan’s sister, died of unknown reasons. At the time, the musician said, “They never found out what happened. No one could figure it out, not the autopsy, not the doctor.
Luke also said that this loss was especially hard on his mother, and he had to support her a lot. “One day she misses my brother, one day she misses my sister, and one day she wants to be around me more, because I’m all she’s got left,” he said.
Luke’s sister died, leaving behind a son, Til, and two girls, Kris and Jordan. At first, Til, Kris, and Jordan could count on their father, Ben. In 2014, the family was hit by another sorrow when Ben died. This left the three kids without parents. Til was 13, Kris was 16, and Jordan, who was the oldest, was 20 at the time.
Luke and his wife Caroline took Kelly and Ben’s children in and made them part of their family right away. Caroline said, “We never gave it a second thought. We just did it.”
Bryan already had two boys, Thomas, or “Bo,” who was born in 2008, and Tatum, who was born in 2010. In the blink of an eye, his family grew by two, and his heart grew with it.
Now, his family is stronger and closer than ever before.
The kids got along really well, which was good for everyone. Luke once told Bo, his oldest son, that he was worried about how he would adjust to having Til as a bigger brother. But he shouldn’t have been worried to begin with. “It’s been amazing to see how well they’ve done with it. They treat Til like a brother, and Til does the same.”
Luke says that his wife is most responsible for how their family has changed. He thanks her for being involved with the kids and being a shoulder for them to lean on. “I think with us, I mean, obviously, I do it with my wife’s help. I mean, the work she does with the kids is just incredible. When I look at her phone, it’s constantly pinging, buzzing, and going off. It’s the kids.”
