Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been happily married for six years.

It is safe to say that the pair has taken a very unusual path by having two children, leaving the Royal Family completely, and moving to the United States.

Meghan Markle is not getting married for the first time when she marries Harry. She was married to Trevor Engelson in 2011.

Two years later, Meghan and Trevor got a divorce, and she went on to become a big T.V. star thanks to her part in the show Suits. Trevor, meanwhile, kept going with his career in show business.

What caused Meghan and Trevor to break up is still a big secret. But now, a royal expert says that Meghan divorced him “out of the blue” and that there was a reason for it.

Here is all you need to know about Meghan Markle’s first marriage.

Meghan Markle was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 4, 1981.

Her father, Thomas Markle, an Emmy-winning lighting director, got her started in show business when she was young. Meghan got to join her father on set many times.

Early life of Meghan Markle

She went to Los Angeles’s all-girls Immaculate Heart High School, which was a big change from being on set.

“I was on the set of Married with Children every day after school for 10 years,” she told Esquire. “It is a funny and strange place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up.”

“My dad would often tell me, ‘Meg, why don’t you go help with the craft services room over there? This is a little bit inappropriate for your 11-year-old eyes.”

When she was young, Meghan strongly desired to improve the world. At age 11, she saw an ad for a cleaning soap only for women, making her feel bad.

She said, “I do not think it is right for kids to grow up thinking that Mom does everything.”

Her father backed his daughter’s desire to change things and helped her write to famous people, like Hillary Clinton, hoping they could help. The soap company changed its motto from “Women All Over America” to “People All Over America” a few days later.

Meghan was interested in show business, so she studied speech at Northwestern University. She says she has always wanted to be an actress but “hated the idea of being this stereotypical L.A. girl who decides to be an actress.”

First job in the showbiz

Later, she moved to Illinois to attend the elite Evanston school and double-major in theater and international relations.

Markle thought she might enter politics after an internship at the U.S. Embassy in Argentina. But the theater was always her biggest dream, even if her first job in show business was not all that great.

Markle tried out for shows while in school, but her first job was as a purse girl on the game show Deal or No Deal.

“I was the unfortunate number 26, which no one ever picked,” Meghan told Esquire.

“I would end up standing there for hours in these cheap and very uncomfortable 5-inch heels, waiting for my number to be called so I could sit down.”

Soon after that, she started to act in plays and movies, getting smaller parts in movies like “Get Him to the Greek” and “Remember Me” and on the T.V. show “General Hospital.” But in 2011, she got the role of lawyer Rachel Zane on the hugely popular USA show Suits.

Her dad gave her good advice because he was a shooting director.

“Without a doubt, I will always find my way,” she said. “And if I don’t, my dad will be the first to call me and say things like, ‘You need to have him bring in another $2,000,’ and ‘Why are not you using this kind of lighting gel?'” The guys on the crew know that it is where I grew up.

Who is Meghan Markle’s first husband, Trevor Engelson?

Meghan was Rachel Zane on the T.V. show Suits until 2018. When she met and married Prince Harry, her life changed again in that year.

We know, though, that Meghan had been married before.

Meghan met her first husband, Trevor Engelson when she was just starting out as a famous actress. He was born on October 23, 1976, in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, and attended the School of Communications at the University of Southern California.

Engelson got his start in the movie business as a production assistant, but he worked his way up to become a film director. He has worked on many things, like the movie Remember Me, which starred Robert Pattinson and came out in 2006. His then-girlfriend Meghan Markle had a small role in his movie when she was just starting out as an actress.

Trevor has also been in movies like “License to Wed” and “All About Steve.” He has also been the executive director for six episodes of the T.V. remake of Heathers.

Grazia says the 45-year-old manages screenwriters, authors, actors, and film directors in Los Angeles when she is not on set working on movies and T.V. shows.

So, what brought Trevor and Meghan Markle together? The Sun says they ran into each other for the first time in 2004. Before getting married in September 2011, the pair dated for about seven years. Their three-day wedding was at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Trevor said he was “too busy” to go see his wife.

The Sun says that the couple planned parties, drinking games at the beach, lunches, and even a wheelbarrow race for about 100 people. What is it? That only took 15 minutes, though.

As was already said, Meghan was one of the models for the briefcases on the game show Deal or No Deal. But, according to the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess by Andrew Morton, Trevor did not want to see her while she was working.

Morton told Express that Engelson did not visit her like other models’ husbands or friends, which was “unusual.” He was busy with his director job, and he did not even travel with Meghan when she had time off because of it.

The royal historian Andrew Morton wrote in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess that Trevor and Meghan were busy.

“It was also clear that Trevor never came to see Meghan on set, unlike the boyfriends and husbands of her Deal or No Deal sisters.

“His absence was so unusual that the other girls talked about it.”

“However, there were a lot of other famous people there, mostly sports stars, and some of them were trying to get close to the girls,” he said.

Meghan Markle supposedly sent Trevor Engelson her wedding ring in the mail.

Meghan and Trevor got married in 2011. That same year, Meghan Markle started appearing on the T.V. show Suits. It was a huge hit right away, and she moved to Toronto soon after because most of the show was shot there.

Meghan got the part just a few months before marrying Trevor. Taking a five-hour flight just to see each other was hard on their marriage. Even though they kept in touch through video calls, the difficult situation did not improve.

“Meghan, who once said she could not imagine life without Trevor by her side, was now building a new world for herself, whether she wanted to admit it or not,” Andrew Morton wrote in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

“Their relationship changed slowly as Toronto became more like her home than L.A.”

Markle stayed on Suits for more than 100 shows up until 2018. But by 2013, she was no longer married to Trevor Engelson. At the time, the couple said they could no longer get along.

Later, Markle’s half-brother Thomas told Express that Trevor “worshiped the ground she walked on.”

In 2017, a source told The Sun, “Trevor was devastated by the breakup.”

“Suddenly, she did not have time for him anymore. Simply put, Meghan broke Trevor’s heart. He is still in love with her, so the news that she is now dating Harry greatly hurt him.

Royal historian Andrew Morton said that Trevor was surprised by the breakup and that Meghan sent him her engagement and wedding rings to sign that she and Trevor were no longer married.

“Meghan, who once said she could not imagine life without Trevor by her side, was now building a new world for herself, whether she wanted to admit it or not,” he wrote.

“He would be a little late and messy when he went to his appointments.”

“Their relationship changed slowly as Toronto became more like her home than L.A. She was now her own person. She had a steady job, made new friends on and off set, and no longer depended on her husband’s connections.

In fact, it looks like Meghan and Trevor’s fight was quite dramatic. Nikki Priddy, a childhood friend of Meghan’s, and the author, Lady Colin Campbell, seem to think so.

In her book Meghan and Harry: The Real Story, Campbell wrote that after Meghan moved to Toronto, she started hanging out with famous people, like popular stylist Jesica Mulroney.

It caused the former “Suits” star to pull away from her husband at the time.

“Trevor had always been laid-back while she was in charge and in charge of everything,” Lady Colin Campbell wrote.

“He would show up to appointments a little late and messy, with his shirt out of his pants and maybe a bit of food on his lapel, while Meghan, who was always calm and in control, was always perfectly dressed.”

When she married Trevor, Nikky Priddy, Meghan’s maid of honor, said that Meghan thought her husband was “embarrassing” for her image.

Trevor Engeelson will say what is on his mind in a new tell-all book.

Colin Campbell wrote in her book, “According to Nikki’s reading of Meghan’s motives, she did not want to be tied down by her embarrassing misfit of a husband or even her old, less Establishment circle of friends because she had found a new group of friends who were more “classy.”

Meghan has not talked in public about her split from Trevor Engelson. But it is interesting that royal fans might soon hear her ex-husband’s full story.

A new book by Tom Bower about Meghan Markle is coming out soon. In an interview with Closer, he said he would talk to Trevor Engelson again soon.

Bower said, “This person would really have a great story to tell because he would know what it was like, yes, what it was like, to be married to the actress from Suits the first time around.”
