A royal source says Meghan Markle is “terrified” about the big choice she has to make for Archie and Lilibet because they might blame her in the future.
The media and the people have always been very interested in royal children. And no, Prince George and his brothers or the children of the Sussexes didn’t start this trend. It’s always been that way.
Because William and Harry are famous, the media paid close attention to everything they did when they were kids.
Of course, not all children born into royalty get the same amount of attention. This isn’t because the media isn’t interested in them; it’s because their parents chose to keep them private.
The Sussexes’ two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were taken out of the public eye after they left the royal family and stopped doing royal tasks. They now live in sunny California. Of course, this wouldn’t be the case if their parents had chosen to stay in Britain.
But even though Harry and Meghan are trying to live a more private life, they have been in the news a lot thanks to their many interviews and Harry’s book, Spare.
Harry and Meghan have been very strict about protecting their children’s privacy by limiting access to photos. However, the public was able to see the young prince and princess in the Netfix documentary about Harry and Meghan that came out in December 2022.
Lilibet and Archie were given royal names and became a Prince and a Princess back in 2023.
“Since their grandfather became king, the children have been born with titles.” A spokesman for the couple said, “This matter has been settled for some time in line with Buckingham Palace.”
The webpage for the Royal Family was changed to reflect this. It now says that Archie is Prince Archie of Sussex and Lilibet is Princess Lilibet of Sussex. When it was changed, it was the first time that the people had seen their royal titles.
The Mirror said that Harry and Meghan supposedly didn’t want to take away their children’s names. Instead, they want Archie and Lilibet to be able to decide for themselves whether to keep their names or give them up as they get older.
Most of the time, the Sussex children will only use their royal names in very special situations.
Many people don’t understand why Archie and Lilibet were given the names of Prince and Princess, but the answer is very simple.
The rules that are still in place today were made by George V in 1917. He decided that the children of any Sovereign’s sons “shall have and always hold and enjoy the style title or attribute of Royal Highness with their titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their respective Christian names or with their other titles of honour.” After the Queen died and King Charles took over as ruler, Archie and Lilibet were able to get their title as royal children.
SpeechTV Royal Editor Sarah Hewson told Sky, “It wasn’t clear if they would use them or not since Harry and Meghan left the family to work as royals and went to the US.” “We’ve heard that talks took place after the Queen’s funeral, and it was agreed that they will be called prince and princess, but Harry and Meghan won’t use that title in everyday life.”
Royal author Angela Levin says, “Little Lilibet will not understand for a long time how heavy the load is that her parents have put on her shoulders.”
She said that by making their daughter a princess, Harry and Meghan have “glued her to the British Royal Family,” which is the very group they have been criticising lately.
The family expert asked, “Why on earth would you want your daughter to go through such pain?” As Levin concluded, “little girls love pretending to be princesses at parties. But if Lilibet is the only real princess in the class, it could cause jealousy that is easy to avoid.”
Most people in Britain don’t think their children deserve to be royal because Harry and Meghan haven’t been back to the country very often since they stopped being royal. A March 2023 YouGov poll found that 51% of people thought Archie and Lilibet shouldn’t have royal names, while 25% thought they should.
People think that Harry and Meghan will go to London in a few weeks to attend the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Reports say that they planned to bring their children with them, and some say that William and Kate have even asked them to do so so that their children can spend time with their UK cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
It was said that Meghan turned down the offer because she worries about the safety of her children.
Tom Quinn, an author and royal expert, told the Mirror in early April, “There is no way Meghan would bring the kids to the UK.”
“William and Kate have asked Meghan and Harry to bring their kids and suggested that the two families start getting along again, but the idea hasn’t worked out yet.”
A source told OK! Magazine that Meghan is worried about the safety of her children if she goes back.
“Meghan no longer wants to bring the kids to the UK.” She doesn’t feel safe. “Right now, the question is whether Harry should go alone or whether the family should go with more security,” the source said.
Like many people, Prince Harry is very interested in polo. He has been seen playing polo at the Santa Barbara Polo Club and at many charity polo events. He showed off his skills last weekend when he played polo for the Royal Salute Sentinal Team in a charity match in Wellington, Florida.
Nacho Figueras, one of his close friends who also played in the polo match, told him that he hoped Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would one day take up polo like their father did.
Figueras told Hello!, “I really hope so. I hope that Archie and Lili get to love horses as much as he does.”
“There’s something good for people on the inside about the outside of a horse.” We hope that love and desire will be passed on. My kids love it, I know it. They like to play a lot. One day we’d love to be able to play polo together.
After moving to the United States, Harry and Meghan’s life has changed a lot from how it was in Britain. Because they chose to leave Harry’s family behind, their kids didn’t have any close cousins nearby. This choice also influenced the future of their children.
Royal expert Tom Quinn now says Meghan is afraid that Archie and Lilibet will “blame her for depriving them” of the chance to work as royals.
Quinn told the Mirror, “On the other hand, we should always remember that phrase ‘never say never,’ because it will come back to haunt you when you change your mind, especially if you are a public figure like Meghan.”
“One of Meghan’s few aristocratic friends from her time in the UK told me that Meghan does miss some things about life there and worries that her kids will blame her if they never get to see their cousins and feel like adults they missed out on what could have been a fun and meaningful life as working royals in the UK.”
Time will tell if Archie and Lilibet ever want to be royal, which is not the road their parents chose for them.
