Many people think elephants are some of the smartest and most sensitive animals on Earth. These beautiful animals are also known for the special relationships with each other. It’s because elephants have strong bonds with each other that make them overprotective parents, too. In the last few days, a video that shows elephants’ incredible sense of sacrifice has gone viral. The video was taken at the Seoul Grand Park Zoo and shows two females working together to save a drowning calf.
The little boy was trying to drink some water when he slipped into the pool at the last second. Elephant babies can’t swim until they are a few months old. In seconds, an older woman rushes over and tries to grab the calf. The young woman who was standing next to him starts to get scared.

As soon as the female realizes that she can’t reach the drowning baby elephant, she rushes into the pond and helps the little one get back to safety. This is how it works: There is even a third elephant who is separated from the others by a fence, and it looks like it is hurt by not being able to help.
Even though these elephants move and think quickly, this happens all the time in the world of elephants. Elephants have big families led by a strong woman called the matriarch. These huge animals stay with the same herd for the rest of their lives, and they form strong bonds with the people they love.
