GRANDMA, 76, GETS BAD REVIEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR WEARING A SLEEVELESS DRESS
People were very mean to a 76-year-old grandmother who posted a picture of herself on social media wearing a dress without sleeves.
People have opinions, but sometimes people forget how smart it is to keep some to themselves.
A fashion influencer who is 76 years old recently shared a picture of herself wearing a midi dress without sleeves. There were a lot of comments on the post, but not all of them were good.
“This isn’t the first time this has happened, but this one caught me off guard,” Candace Cima told TODAY. “People still hold on to old ideas about what is fashionable at a certain age, and this way of thinking needs to change.”
Cima showed off a brown knit dress with no sleeves and a jumper. She is a grandmother of eleven grandkids.
Someone said on Facebook, “This dress doesn’t do anything for you from the side or back.” If something fits you badly below the waist, don’t wear it. Enjoy your body for all the other things it does!”
Someone else wrote, “The jumper on, not a fan of the dress.”
“Not flattering at all,” said a different person with confidence. Would never wear by themselves. “That much skin is too old to show.”
“It’s fine to have wrinkled skin at 76 years old, and I’m not ashamed of it,” Cima replied. I sometimes want to say, “Should I also cover my face, since it’s wrinkled?”
It was in 2019 that Cima started her fashion blog because she saw a need for older women in the fashion world.
“I saw a chance to talk about how to dress as you get older. Following the lead of their mothers and aunts, women have grown up believing that they should cover up.
“We need to change how we think about getting older.” To live in the current world, there’s no need to follow old ideas.
Cima decided not to pay much attention to the many rude comments she received and instead helped some of her newer and younger followers.
“That’s great to age. You can now use everything you have learned your whole life. Right now, you’re the smartest you’ll ever be. Take it in and be proud of it.”
