What started out as a terrible birthday party for Teddy turns into a touching story
Teddy, a six-year-old boy, had been looking forward to his birthday party for a long time. Teddy didn’t want to go to Disney World or Lego Land like most kids would. Instead, he chose to party with his classmates and friends.
His mum, Sia, did everything that needed to be done. It took her two weeks to book a table at Peter Piper Pizza and send 32 invitations to Teddy’s friends. It looked like everything was going well; more than half of the parents confirmed that their kids would be there.
No one from Teddy’s class showed up for his party, though. There were no signs of Teddy’s friends for more than an hour, even though he was looking forward to seeing them. He was meant to have the best day of his life, but this made it sad for Teddy and his parents.
Dog Teddy’s dad was upset and said, “I was bummed, I was bummed out for sure.” To Teddy, the most important thing was having his friends there, so it was disappointing when they didn’t show up an hour into the party. To make Teddy feel better, his parents tried to keep him busy with video games.
Sia was very upset about what had happened, so she took a picture of Teddy looking sad and posted it online. She had no idea that this picture of Teddy would become so popular that it would go viral. At first, Sia felt bad about sharing it because it got her a lot of attention, but then something amazing began to happen.
A lot of people posted birthday wishes for Teddy, and some even sent him gifts. The Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Rising MLS team were nice enough to invite the family to a game. A lot of nice people did this for Teddy, and it made his special day a little happier.
Only one of the parents who didn’t bring their kids to the party was nice enough to call Sia and say sorry. This event should serve as a strong lesson for all of us to be more thoughtful and kind.
Let us take this touching story as a lesson and work to make our community nicer and more open to everyone. Kindness in small ways can make a big difference, especially for a kid like Teddy who earned the best on his birthday.
