The Beautifully Imperfect Bronze Sculptures Of Bruno Catalano Are Not All There

Astonishing bronze sculptures by French artist Bruno Catalano called “Les Voyageurs” have been made in Marseilles. They show realistic workers with large parts of their bodies missing.

The statues were shown off in Marseilles to honor its title as the 2013 European Capital of Culture. The sculptures are skilled works of art even without the missing parts, but those parts make them truly special and one-of-a-kind. You have to use your mind to figure out what they might be missing or what these “voyagers” have just left behind. It’s really amazing how some of the sculptures look like they don’t have much support, making them look almost airy and strange.

At the port of Marseilles, only ten of the life-size statues were shown. His website has a lot more.
