This is the unbelievable moment when a mischievous bald eagle steals the dinner of a poor red fox in a very dramatic way.
The scene took place in Washington’s San Juan Islands, where a fox and an eagle were fighting over a rabbit.
“Eagles don’t like to put in a lot of work to get food,” wildlife photographer Kevin Ebi told Bored Panda. “They look for easy ways to get food.”
“A couple of days ago, I caught these wild animals stealing in a very interesting way.”

Kevin was looking for young foxes on the islands when the scene happened right in front of his eyes.
“A red fox caught a rabbit and was walking across the meadow with it in its mouth.” I moved my camera around to get a picture of what was going on. ”

Then I heard the cry of a bald eagle behind me. I turned around and saw that it was coming up quickly. I knew it was looking for the rabbit. ”
“I focused my camera on the fox and got ready to catch a split-second of the action.”

“I was surprised by how dramatic the scene turned out to be.” I thought the fox would let go of the rabbit, making dinner for the eagle easy. ”
“Instead, the bald eagle accidentally caught the fox with its mouth still around the rabbit.” The eagle lifted the young fox and rabbit into the air, which made the fight even more intense. ”

The whole fight in the air lasted only 8 seconds. The fox finally gave up when it realized it couldn’t win, and the eagle dropped it from a height of about 20 feet.
“I got over what happened and went back to playing with the other kits.” I took a few pictures of it after what happened, but I couldn’t find a single scratch on it.

“I think the eagle thought that, since it was a young fox, the fox would have been scared by the eagle and dropped the rabbit because of that.”
“It was a very unique experience.” I’ve seen bald eagles steal food from crows, great blue herons, and even other eagles.
I’ve never seen an eagle, a fox, and a rabbit steal together like that before. But I’ve been taking pictures of wild animals for nearly 20 years, and I think each one has a story to tell. “
