An unlikely friendship between a dog and a pigeon has people worldwide awe.
Lundy, a 2-month-old Chihuahua puppy who can’t walk, and Herman, a wild pigeon who can’t fly, have become best friends. They met at The Mia Foundation, a nonprofit group in New York that helps animals who can’t live independently. Because Lundy was born with Hydrocephalus, her rear legs are paralyzed. One year ago, Herman was brought to the Mia Foundation after being badly injured.
Sue Rogers, the founder of the Mia Foundation, talked about this adorable friendship: “I put Herman on a dog bed and started taking care of Lundy. I carefully put Lundy in the same dog bed next to him.” So I took a few pictures. They looked so cute that I did.
Video of the Mia Foundation’s snuggles went viral right away when they put it on Facebook, so it spread quickly. The comment section was filled with love, positivity, and excitement for the two of them. Since February 15, the video has been liked more than 5.3K times on Facebook. Also, the Mia Foundation has gotten dozens of messages and donations from people worldwide. As well as more than 100 people who want to adopt Lundy and Herman from both of them.
Rogers told WHEC-TV in Rochester, New York, that when two species fall in love, “it can only touch hearts.”
