How far would you go to protect the person you love?
In order to save someone, it doesn’t matter what kind of person it is.
As soon as the zoo opened in Detroit, people started coming in to enjoy the park with their loved ones.
With his three kids and wife, Rick went to the park with a lot of other people. They were going to have a good time. The day was not fun at all.
There was a fight between two chimpanzees, which caught the attention of the people who were there. The bigger chimpanzee was very angry, and it was running after the smaller one, Jo-Jo.
To get away, Jo-Jo fell into the nearby river. Because chimpanzees can’t swim, Jo-Jo was pulled into the river because he couldn’t get out.
The crowd and the staff stayed still to show that humans aren’t always nice. There was no one willing to risk their own lives to save Jo-Jo’s. Yet, Rick agreed to help the chimpanzee who was drowning.
The staff tried to stop him because the chimpanzees could get very angry if they thought they were in danger. Yet, Rick ran to save Jo-Jo. This is what people say.
Rick dragged Jo-Jo by the arm. But it was afraid it couldn’t handle Rick. On the other hand, Rick was able to get Jo-Jo to the ground without any harm.
Finally, when I was able to hold him up there, he didn’t move. As soon as I turned him around, he looked at me and said, “I love you.”
The real danger came when Rick came. Gorillas from other groups went to attack Rick because he was in the territory of chimps, which is dangerous for them. Jo-Jo didn’t want to be touched in the way he did. As soon as he saw that, he ran to the edge of the exhibit and climbed out just in time.
Finally, when I was able to hold him up there, he didn’t move. As soon as I turned him around, he looked at me and said, “I love you.” Rick told the Desert News about what happened to him.
Rick is a hero, and there’s no doubt about that. But the question is, would we have the same courage if someone we loved was in the same situation?
