Here’s why you should put a clothespin on the shower:

You can make your hot shower feel more like a spa, even though they are already soothing and peaceful. A simple wooden clothespin and some essential oil are all you need. Take a shower in the morning. It may wake you up, give you energy, and make you feel good. Also, taking a shower before bed can help you relax and get ready for sleep. The best part is that this trick only takes minutes to put together.

1. Choose your oil

Not every brand of essential oil is the same. Look for high-quality goods that only have plant compounds and no added chemicals or synthetic oils. Before you buy, look into the brand to make sure their items have a good name. Here are some ideas for scents:

  • A lot of people like the soft floral smell of lavender, which can help you sleep and relax.
  • Roman chamomile, which smells a bit like flowers and herbs, is also calming.
  • The smell of rose may be known to people who are new to essential oils. It can help with anxiety.
  • Vetiver smells sweet, smoky, and woodsy. It can calm you down and make you feel better.
  • When you take a shower, citrus oils like orange, grapefruit, and lemon can make you feel clean and energised.
  • Any pure oil that you like the smell of. You can also mix two or three smells together.

2. Put the oil on

It has to be made of wood so that the oil can soak into it. Just add a few drops of oil to each side of the clothespin. Since you will have to refresh the oil anyway, you don’t need to soak it. It depends on how often the shower is used.

3. Attach it to your showerhead

Next, put the clothespin somewhere that won’t get wet, like the top edge of your showerhead. Instead, the smell will spread through the shower like a diffuser thanks to the steam from the hot water. You can clip the pin to your shower curtain or somewhere else where the steam will reach it but not the water if it won’t fit on your faucet.

4. Enjoy the wonderful smell

A lot of people lie about how healing and restorative essential oils are, and there isn’t much science to back it up. Don’t think that these scents can cure mental diseases or long-term pain, but they can make people happier and more relaxed and energised. They can also help you breathe deeply, which can be good for your health in many ways, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, and improving digestion. So slow down and take a few deep breaths to get the most out of a relaxing shower with your favourite essential oil. Whether you take a shower in the morning or right before bed, a simple scent that makes you feel good can have a big impact on your day or night.

On the other hand, essential oils might lead to side effects like rashes, allergic responses, breathing problems, and headaches. Keep an eye out for these signs, and if they show up, stop using the oils right away. Oils should also not be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding right now because not much study has been done on them. Children and dogs can also have bad reactions to oils. And under no circumstances should essential oils be eaten. [1]

Once a month, clean out the drains.

If hair and other things get stuck in drains, they can fill up with smelly gunk. So use baking soda and vinegar together once a month to clean it. Barry Brown, owner of Counter Culture DIY, says, “Baking soda gets rid of smells and vinegar makes bubbles that help any nasty stuff come loose so the rinse water can wash it away.” Put about a cup of baking soda down the drain, then add about a cup of vinegar on top of it. Wait a few hours. Do not use hot water to rinse off the cleaners until about 15 minutes have passed.

Look at the towels.

Drains aren’t the only places that can smell bad. A smoky hand towel, bath towel, or washcloth can also give them off. Wash them and get new ones at least once a week. CEO of Lawn Love, Jeremy Yamaguchi, says it’s time to get new towels if they aren’t soft anymore or if they smell bad even after being washed. [2]

Clean the bathroom often

There’s no trick here, which is too bad. However, everyone knows that a bathroom that isn’t clean smells bad, so don’t forget to clean it. Cleaning expert and founder of InspireClean Nathaly Vieira says, “This includes wiping down surfaces, spot-cleaning any dirt and grime that can be seen, and scrubbing toilets, bathtubs, sinks, and tiles.” “People often forget to clean the grout in their bathrooms, but you can do it with a cleaning toothbrush and soapy water. It will make a big difference in how your bathroom smells, and it’s a great way to make your space feel like a spa.” If you don’t have time to do a full cleaning, make sure the counters are clean, the toilet is clean and the shower, sink and baths are dry and not mildewed.

Moving air around

Bathrooms often have too much wetness, which is also often the cause of bad smells. A cleaning expert named Muffetta Krueger says, “After a shower or bath, open windows or turn on the exhaust fan to let the extra humidity escape, or open an outside window.” Mould and mildew can make things smell bad, so this helps stop their growth.

Put in plants

Plants are a great way to make a bathroom smell and look better. But make sure the plant can grow well with the amount of natural light it gets. Putting dried herb blooms in a vase is always a pretty way to add a touch of sweet-smelling class. In that case, put a dried eucalyptus flower arrangement under the showerhead. The steam will pull out the smell, making the bathroom smell amazing and high-class. [4]

Put in a diffuser.

You can use essential oils in the bathroom in more ways than just clothespins. Get a diffuser to keep the smell of your bathroom nice and fresh. Lavender, mint, eucalyptus, and lemongrass all have strong smells that can cover up smells and make you feel more relaxed. However, you can pick any oil smell you like. Citrus, cedarwood, frankincense, cardamom, jasmine, vanilla, cinnamon, rose, and other smells are also very popular.
