The ten most beautiful cities in the world

Since “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” as the British painter Francis Bacon once said, it may seem impossible to rank the beauty of towns and what they have to offer tourists. Some travellers like to visit towns with amazing skylines, urban views, and modern architecture, while others want to spend days exploring ancient sites and world-class museums. But while everyone has their own favourite towns, there are some that are so incredibly beautiful, whether it’s because of their history or their natural setting, that they should all be on everyone’s list of places to visit. If you want to experience the best of city life, how about going to one of my 10 favourite places in the world? This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Do you think I missed one? Tell us about your favourite place in the comments.

10. AMSTERDAM (NETHERLANDS)

The main canals in the Dutch capital are lined with over a thousand buildings. Each one is a monument and is kept in great shape as an apartment block, office block, café, restaurant or even brothel. A beautiful latticework of bridges and canals, picture-perfect cobblestone streets, strikingly elegant architecture, and bikes, lots of bikes. All of these things make Amsterdam one of the most beautiful towns in the world. The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijskmuseum, and, of course, the Anne Frank House are all world-class sights.

Best time to visit: The best times to go to Amsterdam are in the spring, from April to May, or in the autumn, from September to November, right before or right after the busy tourist season in the summer. There will be fewer tourists, the weather will be a little better (Amsterdam’s weather is notoriously finicky), and you’ll get to experience the city as the people do, at its most relaxed.
Here is a list of the 10 best luxury hotels in Amsterdam that I think you should stay at.

CZECH REPUBLIC: PRAGUE

The capital city of the Czech Republic is known as “the city of the thousand spires” because it has so many well-preserved historical sites from almost every time period. The bridges over the Vltava River are Prague’s most famous landmarks, especially the incredibly beautiful Charles Bridge. However, the Old Town Square and Prague Castle are also very impressive. Prague is one of the most beautiful towns in the world. The cobblestone streets and atmospheric alleyways that wind through the city make it even more so.

When is the best time to go? Spring and autumn are the best times to go to Prague because the weather is nice, there aren’t many tourists, and the skies are clear. The summer is hot, but not unbearable. However, this is the busy season, so hotel prices are going through the roof. A romantic winter trip is a great way to see Prague covered in snow without having to deal with a lot of other tourists.

8. HONG KONG

As the “Pearl of the Orient” is also known, Hong Kong has one of the most beautiful and photographed city skylines in the world. When you put the tall skyscrapers and futuristic buildings next to the green mountains, you get a view of the city that is unlike any other in the world. Hong Kong is famous for more than just its skyline. It is also known for its lively culture, nice people, beautiful harbour, lots of shopping, and its many restaurants and cuisines.

The city has mild weather from the middle of September to the end of February, with warm, sunny days. This is the best time to come. As of mid-September, the weather can be hot, wet, and sticky. August is the hottest month and the busiest time for typhoons.

7 PARIS

Paris is the most beautiful and glamorous city in the world. It has grand squares, churches that are hundreds of years old, famous boulevards, the Seine and the romantic bridges that cross it, beautiful castles, and the cobblestone streets of Montmartre. Painters, sculptors, writers, poets, and musicians have all been influenced by the City of Light. Almost every major capital city in the world also claims to have its own Champs-Élysées. It’s easy to see why so many people fall in love with Paris. You can take a boat ride on the Seine or sit on a café deck and watch the world go by.

Which season is best? Spring (April to June) or autumn (September to October) are the best times to visit Paris. Paris has had very hot summers and winters in the past few years, which may be because of global warming. It’s uncomfortable to visit Paris in the summer because of the high temperatures and dirty air.

6. Rio de Janeiro (Brasil)

“God made the world in six days, and the seventh day he gave to Rio,” says a Brazilian proverb. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most dramatic and beautiful places in the world. It is also the birthplace of Samba and the Caipirinha cocktail, which always amazes tourists. If you stand next to the famous Corcovado figure or at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, you’ll see one of the most beautiful views in the world. The deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean mixes with the bright white of the beaches and the fresh green of the lush tropical plants. Yes, this is “the marvellous city,” as the people who live here call it.

Should you go? September and October, in the spring, are the best months to visit Rio de Janeiro because the weather is dry, sunny, and warm. It gets very hot in Rio in the summer, and it rains a lot. Still, the summer might be a good time to visit this beautiful city if you want to see the crazy parties on Copacabana Beach on New Year’s Eve or the famous funfair in February. It may be too cold to go to the beach some days in the winter, but most of the time it is dry and clear.

5. U.S. city of San Francisco

The people who live in Bay City, which is in one of the most beautiful places in the world, love their city more than any other in the USA. The spectacular bay, which is surrounded by 43 hills that rise up to 200 to 938 feet (60 to 285 m), is San Francisco’s main draw. The city is artistic, bohemian, and incredibly beautiful. It’s best to get around this beautiful city on a bike because there are so many things to see and do, like the famous Alcatraz, the famous cable cars, the beautiful buildings, the Ferry Building (a foodie’s dream), and of course, the sea lions at Pier 39.

Most pleasant: September through November is the best time to visit San Francisco, with warm weather and sunny days. You can also go in the spring, but the waves will be a little stronger. A lot of people visit Golden Gate City in the summer, but it’s not a good time to go because the city is often covered in fog, which makes the days cool and makes it impossible to see the views. For some reason, even though this is California, San Francisco often has rainy and cold winter days.

4. ROME

Rome is a city on seven hills that look out over the Tiber River. It is full of old monuments that were built in the grand classical style and are set in some of the most beautiful squares and avenues in the world. Of course, everyone who comes to the Eternal City wants to see its famous sites. They must see places like Vatican City with St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum next to it, and Piazza Novona with the Trevi fountain nearby. Don’t forget to also see the less well-known Trastevere district, which has faded palazzi, pretty streets, and lovely houses with flower boxes on them.

The best times to visit are in the spring (April to June) and fall (late September to October). The weather is mild, the days are sunny, and there aren’t as many people there. The city is packed with tourists in the summer, and it’s too hot to be outside. It can be surprisingly cold, wet, and grey in the winter.
These places are suggested: Hotel de Russie, Hotel Hassler, St. Regis, and Cavalieri by Waldorf Astoria.

ROME, ITALY

Three. NEW YORK

New York, New York! If you can do it here, you can do it anywhere! The Big Apple is the most diverse place to visit, and it’s always changing what it means to live in a city. Some of the best museum collections in the world are here. You can also shop until you drop, see shows by world-class artists, and have a hard time deciding where to eat. It’s true that New York City is pricey for tourists, but there are still lots of free things to do.

Any time is a good time to go! Gotham City has a lot to offer tourists in every season. It may be best to go in early autumn, when there are cool breezes, bright sun, and comfortable temperatures (indian summer). Even though it’s cold in the winter, room prices are lower. New Yorkers enjoy the warmer weather by going out on the streets, shopping at outdoor markets, playing in Central Park, and eating outside. Summer can be too hot to handle, so stay away from July and August.

NEW YORK CITY, USA

2. VANCOUVER DEUS

Vancouver is a city that is unlike any other. It is between the Coast Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, and it is full of both natural beauty and foreign business. The city of Vancouver is stunning, with its beautiful mountains, wildlife-filled waters (where orcas live), and lush rain forests (where bears roam freely). The views from the city’s ultramodern glass buildings are even more stunning. Plus, the people who live there are very laid-back and friendly, so you’ll have a great time… as long as it doesn’t rain.

When is the best time to visit? Vancouver is known for getting a lot of rain in the autumn, winter and spring, so try to go between June and September for the most stable and dry weather.

South Africa’s Mother City has some of the most beautiful beaches, mountains, drives, and vineyards in the world. It also has a huge selection of trendy bars and high-end restaurants. This, along with some of the best hotels and customer service in the world, makes it one of the most exciting cities you will ever visit, and you will want to go back again and again.
